Plot

Beetlejuice plays a prank on Poopsie involving a giant inflatable bone, which explodes, destroying the Monster's house and leaving him and Poopsie homeless. After seeing the prank, Jacques and Ginger blackmail Beetlejuice into letting the Monster live with him, or they will tell the Monster what happened. Later, after having enough of the Monster's lifestyle, Beetlejuice rebuilds the Monster's house, but the Monster and Poopsie refuse to leave. Beetlejuice seeks Lydia's help, and she tells him that the Monster is lonely, so Beetlejuice sets the Monster and Poopsie up with the Monstress and Poopette and they all leave. Everything goes back to abnormal. Though as the Monster sings a song with the Monstress, Poopsie & the Poopette both howl, much to the annoyance of Mr. BJ, trying to get some sleep.

Trivia

  • Although the plot is completely different, the episode is named for the film The Odd Couple (1968).
  • Near the end of the episode, the Monster Across the Street sings, "Rub your belly with linseed oil, wrap your head in aluminum foil." This was originally a joke square dance call by Steve Allen that later caught on. This reference was previously made by another Len Carlson character, Bert Raccoon of The Raccoons.
